MTV has canceled Jersey Shore spinoff Floribama Shore after 4 seasons and the series will not return for Season 5, according to a new report.
Insiders tell TMZ that despite production’s best efforts to get a Season 5 off the ground, MTV has decided to cancel Floribama Shore after 4 seasons.
According to the report, the cast members were told about the network’s decision just yesterday (Friday, August 26) but were not given a reason for the cancellation.
There are indications the show was moving forward with a Season 5, however. According to TMZ’s sources, the entire cast minus Gus Smyrnios filmed together back in November 2021 at Nilsa Prowant‘s wedding. The cast was apparently told that the wedding would be used as the kickoff for Season 5 with filming set to continue the following February, but that didn’t happen.
Nilsa, TMZ points out, recently posted pictures of her wedding and you can see an MTV camera crew in the background.
Floribama Shore followed eight friends as they live it up in a beach house in the Florida Panhandle and was the first U.S. spinoff of the popular Jersey Shore franchise. The series premiered in 2017 and aired for 4 seasons.
Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Kortni Gilson, Aimee Hall, Kirk Medas, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice, and Gus Smyrnios made up the cast for much of the four seasons.
Jersey Shore drama
This isn’t the only Jersey Shore-related show drama, however.
Earlier this year, MTV announced plans to film Jersey Shore 2.0 featuring an all-new cast and despite reportedly getting started on that series earlier this summer, it is now officially on hiatus after the crew was spotted leaving the house and removing their equipment.
In addition to Jersey Shore 2.0 being given the supposed axe, Buckhead Shore, a Georgia-based spinoff that premiered on the network earlier this summer, failed to make a splash in the ratings. Thankfully, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, starring the original cast, is still a success, readily leading Thursday nights in the reality TV ratings.
