Bravo’s RHONY reboot earned decent numbers in the live ratings with the Season 14 premiere, according to just-released stats.

The first episode of the all-new Real Housewives of New York City earned a 0.22 in the all-important P18-49 demo and 672,000 live viewers, landing in the number 4 spot on all of cable and was number 1 at 9pm. The reboot stars Brynn Whitfield, Erin Dana Lichy, Sai De Silva, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Ubah Hassan and was designed to reflect a more modern, diverse New York City.

According to a TV Deets analysis, this makes RHONY the most-watched “new” Bravo series of 2023, beating the network’s Dancing Queens and Summer House Martha’s Vineyard.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta was the lead in for RHONY Season 14, earning a strong 0.26 in the demo and almost 900,000 live viewers. TLC’s 90 Day Fiance took the number 1 spot on Sunday night with 0.30 and 1,277,000 live viewers.

While this is not an all-new show and instead more of a refresh (the network is still using the same title and show logo, for example), RHONY Season 14 debuted below The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 1 premiere back in November 2020 (0.31 / 785,000) and last year’s Real Housewives of Dubai debut (0.23 / 769,000).

The Season 14 premiere also falls behind RHONY Season 13, which debuted with a 0.28 and 959,000 live viewers in May 2021. The last season of the show averaged a 0.22 and 817,000 viewers across 18 episodes. Click Here for RHONY ratings.

Bravo switched up the cast after Season 13, replacing Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Eboni K. Williams, and Leah McSweeney.

Leah went on to star on season 3 of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and Luann, Sonja, and Ramona (along with former stars Dorinda Medley, Kelly Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman) are set to appear on the Peacock franchise’s upcoming fifth season after talks for a Legacy spinoff failed. Additionally, Luann and Sonja’s new spinoff Welcome To Crappie Lake has been airing on Sunday nights to rave reviews from longtime viewers.

Andy Cohen enters the chat

Fans do seem to be into the reboot with social media full of praise for the first episode but that doesn’t mean the original RHONY cast has lost any support. As previously reported, original stars Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin have been making headlines after reuniting for an episode of Bethenny’s podcast where they opened up about their experience filming the show.

Real Housewives boss Andy Cohen has been heavily pushing the show in the press and on social media and recently hinted that other franchises may soon receive the reboot treatment but with the live ratings for RHONY now in, that may not turn out to be the case.

Looking at the live ratings for the other cities, RHOA earned a 0.28 and 834,000 viewers with its Season 15 premiere in May, RHONJ earned a 0.25 and 851,000 viewers in February, and RHOC returned with Season 17 last month, earning a massive 0.38 and 1,032,000 viewers. The current franchises are mostly averaging a 0.25 or higher in the demo and at least 800,000 live viewers.

While live viewers are an important metric, Bravo and the other networks also look at DVR and delayed viewing and all of the Housewives shows see gains once those numbers are accounted for. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock.
