Bravo has reportedly “lost interest” in a RHONY Legacy show and is instead focusing on the upcoming Season 14 reboot.
The network has allegedly hit pause on the reunion series due to a dispute over how much the women should be paid and how many episodes they should be guaranteed, according to a report from Page Six.
While Bravo has made “generous” offers to the cast according to the gossip outlet’s insiders, some of the former RHONY stars believe “they should make what the cast of Friends made in their heyday,” production sources reveal. As a result, Bravo is instead focusing on the Season 14 reboot, with insiders calling the new show “fun, funny and aspirational.”
According to the report, main cast members are guaranteed at least around 12 episodes per season, with the seasons running 24 or so episodes. But according to insiders, Bravo has only been willing to promise around four episodes to each potential cast member for the first season of RHONY Legacy.
While the Page Six report doesn’t specify why that is exactly, it could mean that viewers are in for a super short RHONY Legacy season — or the network isn’t planning on featuring the women for an equal amount of time.
RHONY Legacy: Who’s in, and who’s out?
As previously reported, Bravo has split The Real Housewives of New York City into two shows: RHONY Legacy which was set to feature a mix of current and former cast members and Season 14, a reboot series with an entirely new cast.
The RHONY reboot cast was unveiled at BravoCon with Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jessel Taank, Jenna Lyons and Brynn Whitfield set as full-time Housewives. Socialite Lizzy Savetsky was also set to be a part of Season 14 until she left the show amid a reported N-word controversy involving her husband and her would-be co-star Brynn.
As for Legacy, many rumours about casting have been reported since Bravo announced the series last year. Ramona Singer has confirmed that she will not be a part of the spinoff, while LuAnn de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Kelly Bensimon, and Jill Zarin were reportedly a lock.
LuAnn and Sonja will be next on the air as they are set to star in their own RHONY spinoff series debuting on the network sometime this year.
