Lizzy Savetsky has officially exited the upcoming RHONY reboot and Bravo fans really want to know why. Up until now, the network has not commented on the tabloid drama but according to a new report, they have released a statement on the chaos for the first time.
“There are many false narratives circulating around RHONY,” a Bravo spokesperson told Radar Online when asked to comment on Lizzy Savetsky’s exit from the reboot. According to the gossip outlet, they also reached out to Brynn Whitfield and Savetsky herself but no additional comments were shared on their behalf.
As previously reported, Lizzy has confirmed her exit from the RHONY reboot with a shocking article providing additional insight into why she decided to step away — and it is not exactly good. According to insiders close to the show, Lizzy parted ways with The Real Housewives of New York City after she and her husband were caught up in an N-word controversy with co-star Brynn Whitfield.
Lizzy Savetsky, Brynn Whitfield drama
While filming the reboot a few weeks ago, sources revealed to the gossip outlet that Brynn asked Lizzy, who is Orthodox Jew, to set her up with a Jewish man. Savetsky said that while she has no problem with Jews dating gentiles, she prefers only to set up Jews with other Jews. According to the report, she also added that Orthodox Jews favour marriages between Jews to preserve the ethnic lineage and that Judaism is not just a belief system, but also a people.
According to the Page Six report, Brynn felt “affronted” and said something to the effect of “horrific people [meaning Nazis] who did evil things to your people,” which reportedly shocked Lizzy. The report states that the drama got so bad that the two had an off-camera conversation in which they discussed the “power of racial slurs.”
Sources told the gossip outlet that Brynn, who is half-Black, used the full N-word during the call and Lizzy got the impression that Brynn planned to “tell other cast members that Savetsky had also used the N-word during the call.”
The insider goes on to spill that Lizzy’s husband, Dr. Ira Savetsky, called producers to express his disappointment and used the full N-word in his recounting of what happened between Brynn and his wife. While he later apologized, the damage was reportedly “already done” and that is when “conversations began” about Savetsky exiting the series.
According to Radar’s report, all of this drama is what led to Lizzy choosing to step back from the series, while Bravo referred to the move as a “mutual” decision. She reportedly felt she was being “set up” by her co-stars.
Season 14 of The Real Housewives of New York City, which is set to feature Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jessel Taank, Jenna Lyons and Brynn Whitfield, is now filming and will premiere on Bravo sometime in 2023. RHONY: Legacy, the spinoff featuring former cast members, is also set to return next year.
