Tyra Banks Wants To Make Some Big Changes To ‘Dancing With The Stars’: See What Ideas She’s Pitching For Season 30

Tyra is an executive producer on the ABC dancing competition series.

Tyra Banks wants to make some pretty big changes to Dancing With The Stars Season 30, if new reports are to be believed.

According to OK! Magazine, Tyra—who is also an executive producer on the dancing competition show—has pitched quite a few ideas to ABC ahead of the next season of the show, including one particular twist which is sure to cement her position as a centre focus of the show.

“Tyra is an idea machine,” insiders told the gossip outlet exclusively in a new report (November 24). “She is constantly sending notes and thoughts to her team. Next season she wants to make even more changes, including more fashion, more backstage drama and, of course, more Tyra.”

According to the insiders, the longtime reality host wants to mix the dancing format of the show with more of the behind-the-scenes drama viewers are seeing elsewhere on reality TV, like Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise.

“Tyra wants to merge the competition with a reality show — she wants to show more behind-the-scenes content of the stars,” says the source. “She is even talking about having all the dancers live in the same house like they did on America’s Next Top Model.”

Tyra Banks reportedly wants to make some big changes to ABC’s Dancing With The Stars as she continues in her role as executive producer.

In addition to changing DWTS‘ format to include more drama, she also wants to help keep the focus on her. “Tyra wants the golden power each season to save a contestant she alone thinks deserves another chance,” the insider reveals, adding that the twist would be called “The Host Save”.

“Tyra literally has the power as the new boss,” the source points out, clapping back against a popular belief that Tyra Banks doesn’t have the ability to make changes on Dancing With The Stars.

The move to include more of a reality aspect and behind-the-scenes drama is interesting, considering Tyra has been accused of actually banning The Real Housewives and other reality stars from appearing on the ABC show.

Sources tell OK! Magazine that Tyra has put her foot down and reportedly told both production and ABC that she wants the show to “aim higher” than the Bravo franchise.

“Tyra is the new boss and made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom,” an insider revealed a few weeks ago. “She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed. Several ladies from the Bravo franchise have already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes, but Tyra doesn’t want any of them right now.”

They added, “Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives, but the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore.” According to subsequent reports, Tyra’s rep denied that she ever felt that way about the franchise int he first place.

Clearly, Tyra must have changed her tune because if she is considering bringing more of the behind-the-scenes drama reality TV fans have come to know and love, it would be silly to exclude some of the biggest names in that world from participating.

Dancing With The Stars will return with Season 30 in 2021.
