Tyra Banks’ Publicist Denies She Has Banned ‘The Real Housewives’ From Appearing On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Tyra Banks‘ publicist is denying claims that she has banned Bravo’s The Real Housewives from appearing on Dancing With The Stars.

“This is 100 percent untrue,” her publicist, Elana Rose of The Rose Group told Page Six in an exclusive.

“She’s a huge fan of the Housewives and everyone knows Tyra is a businesswoman first,” she continued. “As a businesswoman, why would she say anything against the Housewives? She has nothing to do with casting.”

As previously reported, Tyra enraged fans of Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise earlier this week after OK! Magazine reported that she had made the recommendation to ABC not to cast any of the franchise’s stars.

Tyra Banks bans The Real Housewives

“Tyra is the new boss and made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom,” an insider told the magazine exclusively earlier this week. “She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed. Several ladies from the Bravo franchise have already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes, but Tyra doesn’t want any of them right now.”

“Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives, but the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore,” added the source.

The insider continued, “Tyra wants reality stars like Carole Baskin from Tiger King — not a decade-old franchise that no one talks about anymore. If Tyra thought for one minute that the Housewives would get her show ratings, she would welcome them to the dance floor in a second.”

It’s no surprise that Tyra Banks is backtracking on her comments about The Real Housewives. After the news broke, fans took to social media to clap back against the DWTS host, shading her for attacking the franchise after being a reality star herself for so many years. While her publicist is now claiming it would make no sense for Tyra to attack the franchise, it should be noted that she is an Executive Producer on the ABC show.

Dancing With The Stars airs weekly on ABC.
