Tyra Banks won’t allow The Real Housewives to appear on Dancing With The Stars, according to new reports.
Sources tell OK! Magazine that Tyra has put her foot down and reportedly told both production and ABC that she wants the show to “aim higher” than the Bravo franchise.
“Tyra is the new boss and made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom,” an insider told the magazine exclusively. “She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed. Several ladies from the Bravo franchise have already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes, but Tyra doesn’t want any of them right now.”
Tyra Banks reportedly has a big issue with The Real Housewives franchise, allegedly banning them from appearing on Dancing With The Stars. Her former Top Model winner, Eva Marcille, achieved new fame via the Bravo franchise.
According to the insider, it’s clear that Tyra has issues with the franchise—possibly because she previously wanted to joint he show? “Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives, but the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore,” added the source.
“Tyra wants reality stars like Carole Baskin from Tiger King — not a decade-old franchise that no one talks about anymore,” they continued. “If Tyra thought for one minute that the Housewives would get her show ratings, she would welcome them to the dance floor in a second.”
If true, this is a silly move on Tyra’s part because love them or hate them, The Real Housewives are here to stay. At this point, they are the most relevant cable reality franchise so to say that they don’t bring in the viewers clearly isn’t true. It’s also interesting considering Eva Marcille, one of Tyra’s winners on America’s Next Top Models, went on to achieve even more fame through The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
