Tyler Stanaland has confirmed that his famous wife, actress Brittany Snow, will not appear on Selling Sunset spinoff Selling The OC.

Debuting on Netflix just yesterday (August 24), Tyler is an agent with the Oppenheim Group’s Newport Beach, California office and a full-time cast member on the reality series. While the promo for Season 1 does acknowledge his famous wife, the reality star says in a new interview that his joining the show was actually conditional on his wife not making an appearance.

“I don’t know about the future,” he said on Wednesday’s episode of the “Reality Life with Kate Casey” podcast, according to a write up from Page Six. “But in this specific season, you won’t see my house, you won’t see my wife.”

According to the interview, Tyler maintains that while he is joining a reality show, he wanted to keep his private life to himself. “And as time goes on, maybe that’ll be different,” he explained. “But for right now, that was kind of the one thing that made me feel safe embarking on such a strange journey.”

As teased in the Selling The OC Season 1 trailer, Tyler Stanaland will encounter some drama with fellow agent Kayla Cardona after she allegedly makes a pass at him without Netflix cameras around.

“One night, Kayla did try and kiss me,” he said. “And then it happened another night as well. And so on the show, out of respect for her, I am just kind of trying to minimize it and brush past it so that there isn’t drama. We can all focus on what we should be doing.” Riiiiiight.

While Selling The OC has big shoes to fill, we’re not sure that interviews like this one are helping. The franchise already faces a lot of criticism for not being real and now, one of the talent is actually doing interviews about how he kept the majority of his life off-screen. While the series does typically tend to focus on the agents’ professional lives, their personal lives have always played a big part and it doesn’t really make sense to cast someone so unwilling to share that side of his life. Plus, Tyler Stanaland seems to want it both ways by only talking about Brittany Snow when it is convenient for him.

We’ve got our eyes on you, Tyler!

Selling The OC Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
