Dorothy Wang will be starring in her own New York City-based Bling Empire spinoff after joining the Netflix series for Season 2, according to a new report.
An exclusive from TMZ reveals that not only has Dorothy completed filming on the upcoming second season of Netflix’s Bling Empire but that producers loved her so much that she is getting her own show set to hit the streaming service in late 2022.
According to the report, the spinoff will officially start filming in January and will feature Wang alongside some of her closest (and wealthiest!) friends.
Bling Empire Season 2: Who’s in, and who’s out?
Bling Empire follows the personal and professional lives of a group of friends in Los Angeles, California who are either Asian or Asian-American.
Dorothy has officially joined the cast for Season 2 as a close friend of Christine Chiu and reality fans know her from four seasons of E!’s RichKids of Beverly Hills.
Season 1 of the Netflix series featured Kevin Kreider, Kelly Mi Li, Anna Shay, Christine Chiu, Kane Lim, Kim Lee, Andrew Gray, Jamie Xie, and Cherie and Jessey Lee and while most are expected to return for Season 2, some familiar faces will be leaving the series—and the drama—behind.
Cherie and Jessey Lee will not be returning for Season 2, according to earlier reports. The reality stars spoke to TMZ themselves and revealed that instead of returning to the series, they are now planning to focus on their family and various business ventures and that somehow, a hit reality show just doesn’t fit in. Entertainment Weekly reported at the time that despite the duo quitting the series, they had apparently already filmed a few scenes for Season 2, although there’s no indication that those will end up in the finished product.
Bling Empire Season 2 is expected to premiere in early 2022 while Dorothy Wang’s spinoff should arrive by the end of 2022.
