Netflix’s Bling Empire will be back soon for Season 2 but the cast will almost certainly look a little different when the reality series returns to the streaming service later this year.
Bling Empire features an all Asian-American group of friends living in Los Angeles, California, and Season 1 entertained viewers with a contentious feud between breakout stars Christine Chiu and Anna Shay, as well as Kevin Kreider navigating the world of the ultra-wealthy.
With so much time passing between when the first season dropped and the soon-to-be second season, here’s a look at who’s in and who’s out and what to expect from the show moving forward.
Bling Empire Season 2 cast
Season 1 featured Kevin Kreider, Kelly Mi Li, Anna Shay, Christine Chiu, Kane Lim, Kim Lee, Andrew Gray, Jamie Xie, and Cherie and Jessey Lee and while most are expected to return for Season 2, some familiar faces will be leaving the series—and the drama—behind.
According to TMZ, Cherie and Jessey Lee will not be returning for Season 2. The reality stars spoke to TMZ themselves and revealed that instead of returning to the series, they are now planning to focus on their family and various business ventures and that somehow, a hit reality show just doesn’t fit in. As the outlet points out, the Bling Empire Season 1 finale featured Cherie proposing to Jessey.
Entertainment Weekly reports that despite the duo quitting the series, they had apparently already filmed a few scenes for Season 2, although there’s no indication that those will end up in the finished product.
Dorothy Wang is in the mix
In addition to Cherie and Jessey departing, there are expected to be some new faces in the mix when the series returns with Season 2 later this year.
Former Rich Kids of Beverly Hills star Dorothy Wang is reportedly in the running for a role on Season 2, with TMZ previously reporting that she has filmed scenes for the new seasons with her real-life bestie Christine Chiu.
Leading credence to the rumours is that after they initially dropped, Christine and Dorothy were spotted out to dinner together looking super friendly (and camera-ready, too).
While TMZ reports that Dorothy hasn’t yet secured a full-time role on Bling Empire Season 2, fan reaction to the news seems to point towards that becoming a real possibility.
When will Bling Empire Season 2 drop on Netflix?
While a premiere date for Bling Empire Season 2 has yet to be announced, all of this news most likely means that the new season is coming soon. How soon, however, is entirely up to Netflix.
Season 1 dropped in January 2021 and most Netflix reality shows take about a year before they return for Season 2, but it wouldn’t be shocking if Season 2 ends up premiering before the end of 2021.
For example, Netflix’s other hit reality series, Selling Sunset last dropped new episodes in August 2020 and since the streaming service announced new seasons of the two shows at the same time, there is a high likelihood that they may drop these newest seasons at the same time, as well.
This is a developing story, and we’ll keep you posted on any Bling Empire news as it comes in.
