90s girl group Xscape is reuniting once again but according to a new report, LaTocha Scott is taking a “step back” from the band ahead of the premiere of their new Bravo show.
LaTocha is set to star in a new Bravo spinoff show alongside bandmates Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and Tamika Scott that will take viewers inside another Xscape reunion and while filming on the series has reportedly wrapped, it appears that all is not well amongst the group.
According to a new report from TMZ, Kandi, Tiny, and Tamika are set to go on a small mini-tour without LaTocha under the Xscape name.
After filming on the new Bravo show wrapped, the group wanted to do a tour to celebrate the Xscape reunion but according to the report, LaTocha is looking to take a “step back” from the other girls.

According to TMZ’s insiders, LaTocha’s husband got into an argument with the tour promoter and that seems to be where the drama started.
Sources say LaTocha was originally part of the tour … until her husband got into it with the promoter. She asked the rest of the group to not use the guy, but they said no way … choosing to keep moving forward, which is when she backed out.

Despite fans noticing LaTocha’s absence from the tour promotional materials, TMZ insiders say that she is still very much a part of the band and will appear on stage with them at the upcoming Soul Train Awards. It does seem, however, that she has issues with the band using the Xscape name in her absence.
LaTocha even asked her bandmates not to use the group name since she’d be MIA — like when they went by Xscape 3 after group member Kandi took a break … but no dice.
We’re told there’s been no communication between LaTocha and her sister, Tamika … not to mention the rest of the group — but as a silver lining, it sounds like they will all be back together for the Soul Train Awards next weekend.

As previously reported, Kandi Burruss is still in business with Bravo, recently signing on for Season 15 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. In addition to her time on RHOA, she has starred in numerous spinoffs including the recently-aired Kandi & The Gang. This new Xscape show is not even the first time they have reunited in front of Bravo cameras, with Xscape: Still Kickin’ It airing on the network back in 2017.
This new show, tentatively titled Xscape/SWV, was first announced back in May 2022. According to the very limited details about the show, SWV bandmates Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara Johnson, and Leanne Lyons are also set to appear on the series. The series will reportedly show the two bands attempting to reboot their music careers.
“Following their epic Verzuz performance, the ladies of Xscape and SWV reunite once again to prepare for a show that promises to reignite their music careers,” the logline teases. “There is much at stake for these powerhouse women as they navigate different stages in their lives, both personally and professionally. From celebrating the power of collaboration and sisterhood to pushing to overcome obstacles, there is no shortage of wonder, watching two of the most iconic female R&B groups of the ’90s come together for this multi-part limited series.”

Is Xscape splitting up?
According to the TMZ report, fans do not have to worry about Xscape splitting up as LaTocha is reportedly very much still a part of the band. However, with all of this drama happening behind-the-scenes, it will be very interesting to see everything unfold on the new Bravo show.
Clearly, there is some drama between the cast and this is giving the classic 90s girl group drama we all know and love.
When does Xscape/SWV premiere?
While Bravo has yet to confirm an official premiere date for Xscape/SWV, the TMZ report indicates that the new spinoff is set to premiere in March 2023. Interestingly enough, Kandi & The Gang aired in March of 2022 so this could mean that series will not be returning for Season 2.
