Selling The OC’s Tyler Stanaland has confirmed he and his actress wife Brittany Snow are going through a separation.

The new reality star took to Instagram to make the announcement, asking for privacy for both he and Brittany.

“After time and consideration, Britt and I have made the difficult decision to separate. This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another,” he captioned a photo of the two of them at a happier time. “We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives. We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter.”

Tyler Stanaland‘s separation from actress and wife Brittany Snow comes after the latter failed to make any appearances on the Netflix reality show.

For those of us that have seen Season 1, however, you know that was most likely for the best.

Tyler Stanaland says Brittany Snow will not appear on Selling The OC

Not only did Tyler reveal to the office that co-star Kayla Cardona tried to kiss him — twice — but he faced accusations from breakout stars Alexandra Jarvis and Alexandra Rose that he was being too flirty with his co-workers Polly Brindle and Alex Hall.

Ahead of the show’s August debut, Tyler revealed that Brittany would not be appearing on Season 1 and we called it out at the time for being kind of odd in the reality TV world.

“I don’t know about the future,” he said on an episode of the “Reality Life with Kate Casey” podcast, according to a write up from Page Six. “But in this specific season, you won’t see my house, you won’t see my wife.”

According to the interview, Tyler maintains that while he is joining a reality show, he wanted to keep his private life to himself. “And as time goes on, maybe that’ll be different,” he explained. “But for right now, that was kind of the one thing that made me feel safe embarking on such a strange journey.”

Clearly, there was more to the story now that Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow are going through a separation.

Season 1 of Selling Sunset spinoff Selling The OC is now streaming on Netflix.
