RHOSLC star Jen Shah has been sentenced to 6.5 years in federal prison.
Judge Sidney Stein did not seem pleased with Jen’s behaviour in the case, admonishing her for selling “Justice for Jen” merchandise and questioning whether the reality star had empathy for her victims, according to live reporting from the New York City courtroom. The judge imposed a sentence of 78 months, or 6.5 years and 5 years of supervision upon release.
As previously reported, Jen Shah was facing up to 14 in years in prison for her involvement in a fraudulent telemarketing scheme with the RHOSLC star pleading guilty to charges.
According to NBC News Connecticut, Shah snuck into court back in July 2022 and plead guilty to the charges ahead of her looming trial, which was supposed to start on July 18, 2022. In addition to facing up to 14 years in prison, reports state that the reality star will also face millions of dollars in possible fines and restitution. Since pleading guilty, Jen’s sentencing was pushed multiple times, with the final date scheduled for today (Friday, January 6, 2023).
Prosecutors were seeking at least 10 years
Prosecutors are seeking a 10-year prison sentence for RHOSLC star Jen Shah, according to recent reports. TMZ had obtained court documents that are shed some light into the fraud case, revealing that prosecutors believe the reality star is the “most culpable person charged in this case,” despite her denials.
According to the documents, prosecutors say Shah attempted to “conceal her role in the scheme,” but in reality was extremely involved in their day-to-day operations.
She was reportedly upset with the amount of money that was coming in around June 2018, with TMZ reporting she texted her coworkers, “‘I’m coming in to set appts for these guys tomorrow. Please get my 24 karat gold headset with diamond encrusted mouthpiece ready. Papi needs money for the weekend and [a co-conspirator] needs baby mama money.'”
Has Jen Shah been fired from RHOSLC?
Regardless of what happens to Jen Shah, it is not clear whether there is a spot for her on RHOSLC once she is released.
Back at BravoCon in October 2022, Andy Cohen basically confirmed that Bravo would no longer be working with her due to her pleading guilty after filming on Season 3 wrapped and she was MIA from the entire event, including the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City panel. While she did end up crashing one of the after parties, she was not actually invited, according to various reports.
Plus, unlike Teresa Giudice, Jen Shah does not have the rabid fan base she may need in order for Bravo to continue working with her.
In addition to Jen Shah, Season 3 of RHOSLC features full-time Housewives Meredith Marks, Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose, and Heather Gay.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays on Bravo.
