Federal fraud charges
As previously reported, Jen Shah pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges and faces up to 14 years in prison for her involvement in a telemarketing scheme.
According to NBC News Connecticut, Jen appeared in court back on July 11, 2022 and plead guilty to the charges ahead of her looming trial, which was supposed to start on July 18, 2022. In addition to facing up to 14 years in prison, reports state that the reality star will also face millions of dollars in possible fines and restitution. The New York Police Department, the body that investigated the RHOSLC star, believes that Jen Shah had “hundreds” of victims and that the alleged scam ran for at least 9 years, starting in 2012 and leading to her arrest in March 2021.
Seeing as Jen plead guilty after filming on RHOSLC had wrapped, fans are stuck watching a season in which the reality star claims she will be going to trial to fight the charges as opposed to her eventual guilty plea. While it is not clear what had Jen so upset in the video, like TMZ points out, there are a few different reasons why she could be so wound up right now.
