Garcelle Beauvais is “grateful” to be taking a break from RHOBH after Season 12, she reveals in a new interview.
Speaking to OK! Magazine while promoting holiday shopping at Target, Garcelle echoed Sutton Stracke’s comments about the next season of RHOBH, agreeing that the series needed to take a break after a very-dramatic and slightly-controversial Season 12. That said, Garcelle remains excited to return for Season 13.
“I’m excited about filming, but I’m so grateful for the break we’ve had,” she told the magazine. “It was needed I think for everyone. It’s definitely needed after this last season.”
Not only did RHOBH Season 12 feature the cast divided with Friend of the Housewives Kathy Hilton on one side and longtime villain Lisa Rinna on the other, but Garcelle faced off with Erika Jayne after the latter drunkenly swore at her son during a filmed event. “It was really hard,” she explains. “But I’m looking forward to going back and seeing who is here and what we’re doing.”
When asked about balancing friendship and loyalty amongst the women, Garcelle jokingly explained that she sometimes needs to put pal Sutton Stracke in her place. “There’s some loyalty to having a friendship, period, right? I think you have to take that at face value — how have they shown up? What have they done? Then I can be loyal to you, but at the same time, if I need to check you, I will,” she said, pointing to Sutton.
Sutton agrees RHOBH needed to take a break
Garcelle’s BFF Sutton claimed in an interview earlier this week that she too felt that RHOBH needed to take a break after Season 12.
“I think that we had a tough season and it got really, really dark,” she told Us Weekly in a recent interview. “And so maybe it needed to have a minute so that the sun can come in.”
Despite all of that, Sutton explains that she would like to return to RHOBH should Bravo want her back for Season 13. “I hope to come back,” she said. “I feel like I just found my sea legs, and found my voice. So, I would like to use it now and have some more fun. And have more experiences in this arena. I really do like it and would like to continue if they’ll have me.”
RHOBH taking a “minute break” after Season 12
As previously reported, RHOBH is on a “minute break” according to Bravo boss Andy Cohen after a highly-rated yet highly-tumultuous Season 12.
With filming expected to start in the new year, it is unknown who will officially be a part of the cast when the series returns. It seems like a definite that Garcelle will be back and Sutton clearly wants to return for RHOBH Season 12, too. According to various reports, Erika Jayne and Lisa Rinna may already be locked in while newbie Diana Jenkins also wants to remain in the mix, despite her being the least likely to be asked back based on viewer opinion.
With ratings as high as they were last year, however, expect to see the rest of the cast including Dorit Kemsley, Crystal Kung Minkoff, and Kyle Richards back in some capacity.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will return to Bravo sometime in 2023.
