WE tv Releases Tamar Braxton From Contract, Plans To Air ‘Get Ya Life’ As Is

WE tv has confirmed that they have released Tamar Braxton from her contract and according to a new report, her upcoming reality show Get Ya Life will reportedly air as is despite the dispute.

Earlier this week, Tamar was hospitalized for what turned out to be a suicide attempt and levied complaints against the production company behind the show and the network, alleging an unsafe work environment. Ever since, the two sides have been in prolonged contract negotiations and the premiere of show was delayed.

All of that has now been settled, however.

“Tamar Braxton has been an important part of our network family for more than a decade,” the network told the gossip outlet in a statement. “As she focuses on her health and recovery at what is clearly a difficult and personal time, we will work with her representatives to honor her request to end all future work for the network.”

Show insiders went on to tell TMZ that the network plans on airing the reality show at hand, Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!, as is this September. What’s odd is that the network listed the show in the ratings multiple times in the past week, so we’re not sure whether those were just preview episodes or the show actually did air and TMZ is incorrect.

The news is somewhat rare for the reality TV industry which traditionally has been reluctant to give talent too much power and Tamar has certainly set a precedent for those after her.

While getting out of her contract was one thing, we’re sure that Tamar would have been asked for the show to be shelved in its entirety but for obvious reasons, the network didn’t seem to want to budge.

WE tv has grown in popularity in recent years, becoming best known for shows like Braxton Family Values and Marriage Boot Camp as well as recent hits like Love After Lockup. Tamar, for her part, was the winner of last year’s Celebrity Big Brother and has spent years on the network as one of their main stars.
