Vicki Gunvalson Opens Up About Not Being Asked Back To ‘RHOC’: “There’s Obviously Something Bravo Doesn’t Like About Me”

Former RHOBH star Taylor Armstrong, somewhat surprisingly, is being added to the show as a Friend of.

Vicki Gunvalson cried when she found out she wasn’t being asked back to RHOC for Season 17 but her best friend Tamra Judge was according to a new interview with the longtime reality star, but that doesn’t mean she is still upset with Bravo’s decision.

Vicki sat down with E!’s Daily Pop to chat about her dramatic breakup with Steve, appearing on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, and what she thinks about the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Orange County and surprisingly, she seems A-OK with not being asked to return.

On whether there was something left on the editing room floor from Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip that she would have liked viewers to see:

“Tamra and I had our nightly recaps in the bed, every night for at least an hour to three hours and of course they can’t show that because it would be too boring and long but that was really our reset time,” she told the hosts. “We talked about the day, we talked about the other girls, who we liked and who we didn’t, and I think that would have been good to incorporate in.”

Vicki also clarified that what we saw of her breakup wasn’t the full picture of what was actually going on at the time. “The second thing was asshole [Steve Lodge] broke up with me while I was there… It looked like he had already broke up with me when I went but that was not the truth,” she explained. “He was in my bed the morning I left for [Dorinda’s house].”

Vicki added that he broke up with her via text message, telling her he was moving back in with his mother. “I was recovering from COVID and I couldn’t believe he did that. I tried to call him but he wasn’t answering. So that would have changed the dynamics of why I was so f*cking miserable.”

On Tamra being asked back but not her:

“Of course I’m excited for her. I would be a bad friend if I wasn’t,” the OG of the OC explained. “She thinks I wasn’t supporting her enough [with her going back on] but that’s not the case. Of course I have FOMO. I’m like any other woman that would be feeling that way.”

She continued, “It’s been three or four weeks later that she called and told me she was going back on and the immediate thing I did was cry. I mean, I didn’t get the call and I felt, ‘what does she have that I don’t have?'”

“We’re both individual people and she’ll show her tits, I won’t…” she joked. “We’re a good Lucy and Ethel together but there’s obviously something that Bravo doesn’t like about me and I had to accept it.”

Honestly, it’s a shame that Vicki Gunvalson isn’t being asked back for RHOC Season 17 but Tamra was. While it’s clear the show wants to move in a new direction and Tamra was instrumental to the show’s success in seasons past, Vicki is the one that actually put Orange County on the map.

Whether it was her divorce with Donn, chaotic relationship with Brooks, or her constant feuding with all of the new Housewives over the years, there’s no denying the impact Vicki has had on the show and network. With Taylor Armstrong somewhat confusingly being given a Friend of the Housewives role, it only makes sense that Bravo does the same with Vicki.

As previously reported, RHOC Season 17 is set to star Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, Taylor Armstrong, and a few yet-to-be confirmed new Housewives.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is now in production on Season 17 and will return in 2023.
