The Real Housewives of Atlanta has resumed production on Season 13 after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.
According to an exclusive from Page Six, the Bravo hit, which premieres this Sunday, has resumed filming with additional safety protocols in place.
Revealing that RHOA Season 13 resumed filming immediately after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, sources explained that the women will be “spending more time together outdoors, avoiding crowds and having daily health checks and getting tested regularly,” among other new guidelines.
Filming on RHOA Season 13 has resumed weeks after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.
In addition, the cast and crew have been practicing “enhanced hand hygiene,” and “enhanced sanitization protocols for the equipment,” according to the report.
As previously reported, the longtime reality series was forced to shut down in recent weeks after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.
“Everything is shut down right now,” sources told The Jasmine Brand, adding that it was a crew member and not a cast member that tested positive for COVID-19. “They’re pausing everything until everyone can be tested and quarantined.”
“It’s a really scary situation because this affects more than just the cast, but their families as well,” added the insiders. As The Jasmine Brand reports, Cynthia Bailey was forced to cancel a planned event co-hosted by Porsha Williams as a result of the positive test.
The shutdown news was the latest hurdle in production, as sources previously revealed that Cynthia’s wedding was at the centre of some coronavirus-related drama.
Bravo backs out of filming Cynthia’s wedding
Back in October, insiders revealed that Bravo had been planning on documenting the wedding but that they backed out with concerns that the event wasn’t safe amid the ongoing pandemic.
According to insiders, Cynthia and Mike switched from an outdoor setting to an indoor setting due to an approaching storm and and at that point, the network deemed the event too precarious to document and subsequently backed out. The two reportedly had almost 200 guests, not including the massive crew that would be required to film for RHOA.
Subsequent images shared to social media showed that many of the invited guests did attend, with some wearing masks and some not.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 13 premieres this Sunday, December 6 at 8/7c on Bravo.
