The Housewives are already loving new cast member Drew Sidora, however.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta reportedly don’t care whether star of the franchise Nene Leakes returns for Season 13.
According to a new report from Hollywood Life, the women are “annoyed” that Nene hasn’t signed her contract to return to RHOA but after years of this same tactic, they reportedly aren’t surprised.
“The ladies are a little annoyed that Nene hasn’t signed her contract yet. They feel she does this every year and puts herself on this pedestal and they just roll their eyes a bit over it,” a production source revealed. “They’re not surprised.”
The same can’t be said for new cast member Drew Sidora, however. According to the same report, the RHOA ladies are excited to be filming with Drew, who we exclusively reported tested for the show last season.
“They’re very excited to have Drew join them on the cast and there’s a lot of chatter of one other lady potentially joining as well,” the insider shared, supposedly referencing LaToya Ali, a friend of Kandi Burruss’ who is also rumoured to be joining the cast of RHOA.
The insider noted that there’s still time for things to fall into place before one of the season’s biggest moments—Cynthia Bailey’s wedding to fiancé Mike Hill—takes place this October.
As fans of the franchise are well aware, Nene caused a stir at the Season 12 reunion when she closed her laptop and didn’t resume filming with the rest of the women, or host Andy Cohen. After that, contract negotiations with the OG seemed to take a turn for the worse and now, the two parties seem to be at a wall.
While Nene is making some really valid points about work environment and respect, she also needs to understand how rare it is to have the platform she does. If she’s on the show, she has a chance to influence and change things but if she isn’t involved, we’re not sure that gets her anywhere long-term or career-wise.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 13 is expected to premiere later this year.
