The Breakfast Club host DJ Envy and his wife Gia Casey have turned down Bravo’s RHONJ, he reveals in a new interview.
DJ Envy has been asked to join The Real Housewives of New Jersey multiple times, he told Page Six in an interview. “I don’t want to be the token black person on the show,” Envy, aka RaaShaun Casey, told the gossip outlet. “They would have to make it make sense, and we not into that type of beef and drama. When I see you fighting each other and flipping tables that’s not my family.”
“We have been asked a couple of times about joining the Real Housewives but I don’t think that’s for us,” the longtime radio personality explained while promoting The Breakfast Club’s jump to BET and VH1 with a new syndicated version of the radio show. “I don’t know how we would fit into all of that. I will be honest, I don’t see myself hanging out with [the cast] so much. When they go out and do certain things, it is just not my vibe.”
Originally a resident of Queens, New York, Envy now lives in New Jersey and his wife Gia is good friends with RHONJ star Teresa Giudice, the Page Six report points out.
“I do know all the cast members of New Jersey,” he confirmed. “My kids and their kids know each other from dance or gymnastics. So that’s how I know Teresa and Joe Gorga, and all of those other people — but I don’t think we would fit in.”
Gia Casey’s name has come up in connection with RHONJ before so Envy’s story seems to track.
Back in 2013, The Jasmine Brand reported on rumours that Gia would be joining the Bravo series for Season 5 after being photographed with the cast.
