Shahs of Sunset has been cancelled by Bravo after 9 seasons, according to TMZ.
The gossip outlet reports that the show “simply ran its course” and that network executives have decided to end the series.
The Los-Angeles based reality series followed a group of Persian Americans and their personal and professional lives, and starred Reza Farahan, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, Mercedes “MJ” Javid, Mike Shouhed, Destiney Rose, and Nema Vand. The series first debuted on Bravo back in 2012 and most recently aired its ninth season from May to August of 2021.
In a very-dramatic Season 9 of Shahs of Sunset, Reza and MJ patched things up after fracturing their years-long friendship the season prior, and the cast attempted to intervene in Mike’s relationship with fiancé Paulina. He was recently arrested on domestic violence charges although Paulina has not been named in the incident, according to reports.
According to TMZ, original Shahs of Sunset stars MJ, Reza, and GG could return to the network in another project. Bravo did not respond for comment when asked about Shahs of Sunset being cancelled.
The cancellation news is sure to send shockwaves through the Bravo universe, with other shows like Vanderpump Rules on the chopping block apparently more than ever. That series has also aired 9 seasons and saw a decline in ratings after the network fired half of the original cast back in 2020.
This is a developing story… We’ll keep you posted.
