The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards suffered a series of setbacks in the days leading up to the broadcast, with host Drew Barrymore pulling out in a show of support for writers, according to THR. While the network had planned on moving ahead with a live audience after Barrymore pulled out, that was changed on Friday and the decision was made to go with a virtual ceremony instead.
