Kristen Kish is replacing Padma Lakshmi as host for Top Chef Season 21, Bravo has announced.

Just yesterday (July 11), the network confirmed that a new set of talented cheftestants will be heading to Wisconsin to compete for the title of Top Chef. Production on Season 21 is expected to start imminently.

In addition to solidifying the filming location, Bravo also revealed that Kristen Kish — who won Season 10 of the series back in 2013 — will be replacing Padma Lakshmi as host for Top Chef Season 21 after Padma revealed in a statement just weeks ago she would not be returning to the program. Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons are set to return as judges.

Top Chef is where I started my journey — first as a competing chef, then a guest judge, and now as host, I have the honor of helping to continue to build this brand,” Kristen said in a statement, courtesy of Bravo. “I’m thrilled to sit alongside Gail and Tom as we get to know new incredible chefs and see what they cook up. It feels like coming home.”

Padma exits

As previously reported, Padma revealed she was exiting the series a few weeks ago in a statement on her Instagram page. “After much soul searching, I have made the difficult decision to leave Top Chef,” the Bravolebrity posted. “Having completed a glorious 20th season as host and executive producer, I am extremely proud to have been part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the world of television and food.”

“After 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working along side them dearly,” she continued. “I feel it’s time to move on and need to make space for Taste the Nation, my books, and other creative pursuits. I am deeply thankful to all of you for so many years of love and support.”

Top Chef is now in production on Season 21 and will return later this year.
