HBO Max has decided to cancel FBoy Island after two seasons, according to a new report.

Insiders tell Variety that the reality dating series will not return for Season 3 amid the messy Warner Bros. Discovery merger but the news should not come as a complete shock to fans considering what is happening at HBO Max.

As previously reported, HBO Max has been ordered to suspend production on everything unscripted meaning the fate of FBoy Island was up in the air already.

The streaming service had been home to shows like The Big Shot With Bethenny and Sweet Life: Los Angeles and despite some of their unscripted originals having strong promise, none of the shows have really broken into the reality zeitgeist, which may be why Discovery is switching focus. Meanwhile, Discovery+ is already home to a slew of reality shows mainly due to owning cable network TLC.

“Going forward, existing Max unscripted series will continue or premiere as planned and, if they are performing well, will stay on,” Discovery said in a statement at the time. “There will just be no new development in light of the large volume of non-fiction fare that will come from Discovery+ when the two services are merged next summer.”

Clearly, FBoy Island wasn’t pulling in the type of numbers Discovery was looking for when making a renewal decision. The dating reality series premiered in 2021 and went on for two seasons. The show was hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who also starred in her own E! reality series earlier this year.
