CBS Sets August Premiere For ‘Big Brother’ Season 25

Big Brother Season 25, August 2 premiere date CBS, Julie Chen

CBS has set an August 2 premiere date for Big Brother Season 25.

Unlike the last two seasons of the show debuting in the first week of July, Big Brother Season 25 will debut one month later, according to Entertainment Weekly. The change is most likely due to the current writer’s strike, although EW points out that Season 22 premiered August 5 back in 2020 but that was due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the late premiere date, fans can expect to see the season run well into the fall. Most of the big networks like ABC, NBC, and now CBS, are adjusting their fall schedules to included more unscripted programming due to the current writer’s strike which has closed writer’s rooms and caused almost all scripted TV to come to a halt.

Release schedule

According to the Entertainment Weekly report, CBS will air new episodes of Big Brother on Sundays (8pm EST), Wednesdays (8pm EST), and Thursdays (9pm EST) but the Wednesday episodes would conflict with the just-announced fall block which features 90-minute episodes of both Survivor and The Amazing Race.

Since those two seasons are already completed and will launch in mid or late September, EW guesses that CBS could always move Big Brother to other nights come fall, thereby filling some of the holes created by the absence of any scripted programming.

In addition, the premiere will be a 90-minute episode that will see Season 25 introduce a group of all-new Houseguests. This news may come as a shock to some fans who expected to see an all-star season.
