Vanderpump Rules executive producer Andy Cohen explained why everyone is so into Scandoval in a recent interview, while sharing his support for star Ariana Madix.
When stopped by TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, May 18, the Bravo big wig revealed that the shock factor is what has people tuning in. “People feel like they know them, I think infidelity is something that a lot of people are interested in or maybe have a relationship with and also, I think that the idea that it happened with Ariana’s best friend makes it all very dramatic and shocking,” he explained, adding, “But it’s real.”
When asked why so many cast members on Vanderpump Rules seem to cheat on each other, Andy was left speechless. “I don’t know… There’s something in the water in West Hollywood,” he surmised.

The series has been lighting up the live ratings ever since Scandoval broke back in early March and while some detractors are pointing out the hypocrisy amongst the cast, Andy isn’t having any of it. “This isn’t the first cheating scandal on Vanderpump Rules and it won’t be the last but it is certainly the biggest and it’s resonated the most with the most amount of people,” he stated, somewhat shutting down the haters.
As previously reported, the Bravoverse is reeling from the news that Tom Sandoval cheated on Ariana Madix with her best friend (and co-star) Raquel Leviss.
The drama has brought the series its highest ratings in years and has crossed over into other areas of pop culture, with Ariana recently being featured in the prestigious New York Times.
Part 1 of the Vanderpump Rules reunion airs Wednesday, May 24 at 9|8c on Bravo.
