The new show is just the latest in a string of international versions of the reality drag competition.
World of Wonder is bringing RuPaul’s Drag Race to Spain.
According to Deadline, RuPaul’s Drag Race Spain will stream exclusively on WOW Presents Plus in the United States and in other international markets, while airing at the same day and time in Spain via ATRESplayer Premium.
“It is such an honor to welcome Spain to the Drag Race family, partner with Atres, and bring the fierce fabulous glamour of Spanish queens to new audiences around the world on WOW Presents Plus,” the co-founders of production company World of Wonder said in a statement about the new expansion.
They continued, “In these dark and challenging times we believe people need Drag Race‘s joy, laughter, and heart now more than ever.” According to the report, the host, judges, and cast of Drag Race Spain will be revealed at a later date meaning the show really is just in its initial stages.
As previously reported, this isn’t the first international expansion for the award-winning reality competition series.
Drag Race has previously expanded to Thailand, the U.K., Canada, and Holland and while the creators have openly discussed their plans to go international, the announcement is still a huge move and will be exciting to many fans of the franchise worldwide.
