Was Dorinda Medley Fired From ‘RHONY’? Show Insiders Dish On Her Exit

"In this climate of social justice and cancel culture, she was not a good representative of the show or the network."

Dorinda Medley announced that she was leaving RHONY after six seasons yesterday but according to a fresh report from Page Six, the reality star was actually fired by Bravo—and the details are actually pretty shocking.

This season, Real Housewives of New York City viewers watched Dorinda struggle to connect with the other women and her outbursts and anger have become a hot topic in recent episodes. According to the gossip outlet, her “mean drunk” behaviour is reportedly what got her the pink slip.

Sources told Page Six that should Dorinda have taken some accountability by the end of the season, she may have saved her job. “If she’d have said [at the end of the season], ‘Look — I’ve been depressed and that’s why I’m acting like this,’ or, ‘I miss my [husband, Richard, who died in 2011],’ and said she’d work on it,” an insider explained, “I think it would have been different.”

Dorinda Medley announced she was leaving RHONY yesterday but according to a fresh report, she may have actually been fired.

The sources added that Dorinda actually received the call from production while filming an episode of ABC’s The $100,000 Pyramid, which has to have been tough to deal with while remaining professional.

Because of her abrasive behaviour, executives reportedly want to push the show in a new direction and are currently casting for new women.

“In this climate of social justice and cancel culture, she was not a good representative of the show or the network,” another insider added. “That’s just not where they want the show to go.”

Tinsley Mortimer exits

RHONY was already dealing with a bit of a reboot for the coming season seeing as star Tinsley Mortimer exited midseries, one of the few Housewives across the franchise to do so.

After going on a month-long hiatus, RHONY returned with new taglines—minus Tinsley—and the show seemed to move on to focus on Dorinda.

Plus, Bethenny Frankel quit on the eve of filming, leaving newbie and friend Leah McSweeney on her own. Now, producers have technically 3 spots to fill for next year.

Producers looking to “shake it up”

Bravo and the production company behind RHONY, Shed Media, are looking to “shake” up the cast and want to bring on more diverse women who reflect New York City more appropriately.

As previously reported, even the Housewives were aware that the show was going to be mixed up with Luann de Lesseps recently sharing publicly that they were expecting “some new Housewives.”

“There’s definitely going to be some new Housewives,” she dished in an interview with Extra while promoting Season 12 and her new single.

“Bravo is planning to shake things up with The Real Housewives of New York next year,” an insider had previously revealed. “There’s going to be some changes. … A handful of white women doesn’t necessarily represent what New York City is all about.”

Love her or hate her, Dorinda Medley was an iconic Housewife and her presence will certainly be missed on RHONY.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursdays on Bravo.
