TLC Promises More ’90 Day Fiance’ Spinoffs Are On The Way

Howard Lee, president of TLC, is citing big ratings and big storylines for the reason to add more to the lineup.

TLC is going to be doubling down on its 90 Day Fiance franchise.

According to a fresh report from Variety, Howard Lee, president and general manager of TLC, appeared at the Edinburgh TV Festival earlier this week and confirmed that the network has no plans of slowing down when it comes to their biggest property.

One or two more 90 Day Fiance spinoffs are currently in the works, he told an audience of TV insiders. “We listened to the audience, and it is very important to us that we don’t just create a spinoff or a sequel or something else, that’s just for the sake of doing it,” he explained.

After the success of such 90 Day Fiance spinoffs like Darcey and Stacey, TLC is planning on adding at least one or two more to the lineup.

“We want to make sure that we are not just ripping ourselves off franchise after franchise. There is always a need when we start something new.”

The franchise first began airing in 2014 and production company Sharp Entertainment has expanded their slate to include nine spinoffs: Before the 90 Days, The Other Way, What Now?, Pillow Talk, The Family Chantel, Self-Quarantined, Happily Ever After, B90 Strikes Back! and just recently, Darcey and Stacey.

The shows are massively successful in the U.S., consistently topping three million viewers for some shows and easily leading Sunday and Monday nights. Interestingly enough, TLC president Howard Lee also pointed out that during quarantine, the show has picked up a lot of additional male viewers, further expanding its reach.

90 Day Fiancé airs Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays on TLC.
