Tinsley Mortimer Says Goodbye To ‘The Real Housewives Of New York City’ After 4 Seasons

Another one bites the dust.

Tinsley Mortimer is the latest Bravolebrity to exit the building after announcing on last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City that she is moving to Chicago and in effect, is leaving the show.

Just prior to last night’s shocking final moments, where Tinsley said goodbye to her co-stars including Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Leah McSweeney, she took to her official Instagram page to thank everyone for their support.

Midseason exit

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my fans and friends who supported me and are happy for my fairy tale ending,” she captioned a set of videos and photos from her time on the show. “Without #RHONY, I would never have met my prince charming, Scott. Being a Housewife was such a fun experience, and I thank @bravoandy and all the wonderful people at Shed Media and @bravotv.”

While fans were shocked by Tinsley’s Instagram announcement and last night’s episode of RHONY, there have been rumours for months that she had quit the show to be with Scott in Chicago.

Back in December 2019, sources revealed to PEOPLE that Tinsley had been forced to choose between being on The Real Housewives of New York City or marrying Scott.

“Scott gave her an ultimatum: ‘me or the show,’ and she chose him,” a source said at the time. “He loves the limelight but hated the negative effect the show had on their relationship. And Tinsley, she’s desperate to make the relationship work and was on the outs with the group as it was.”

Tinsley becomes one of only a few Housewives to make a mid-season exit across the franchise, including Jeana Keough and Peggy Tanous from The Real Housewives of Orange County and Dina Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Lack of support

On last night’s episode of RHONY, most of the women seemed to disappoint Tinsley as she desperately tried to tell them that the updates in her relationship were genuine.

Dorinda Medley, who’s been feuding with Tinsley all season, basically made a mockery of her proposal from Scott and wasn’t featured in one of the “goodbye” scenes production included at the end of the support. Luann de Lesseps was also excluded from the final scenes.

Dorinda has always had a rocky relationship with her co-star, but things really seemed to kick up a notch during Season 12, with almost every episode resulting in some sort of argument between the two. Obviously, for more reasons than just her relationship with Scott, it makes sense for her to want to leave the show and move on.

Meanwhile, Ramona first appeared to ignore her co-star’s announcement, she finally got her senses together and filmed a goodbye scene over a glass of wine where she apologized to Tinsley and wished her the best with Scott.

After watching her move out of her New York City hotel with her two dogs, the episode ended with a title card explaining that she had in fact moved to Chicago for the next chapter of her life.

We’ve enjoyed watching Tinsley as a Real Housewife and wish her the best of luck as she moves forward with Scott. For once, a reality star making an appropriate decision; Who would have thought?

The Real Housewives of New York City returns to Bravo and Slice with new episodes in July.
