On January 24, Vicki Gunvalson took to Instagram to announce that despite rumours she may take another Friend of the Housewives role on the upcoming season, she had actually decided to leave RHOC entirely. Now, Tamra has joined her close friend and co-star and has announced that she too would be leaving the show.
“It’s been a wild 12 years,” she posted on her Instagram page. “But it’s time for me to move on. I’m sad to go but I’m very excited about my future.”
Tamra Judge took to Instagram to also announce she is leaving RHOC.
Unlike Vicki, Tamra kept her post short and sweet, leading many to suspect that she was actually fired from the show and did not make the decision to leave on her own.
Earlier this weekend, Vicki broke the news that she is leaving the show and franchise that she helped to build. “I will always be the OG of the OC, but it’s time to say goodbye to The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Vicki posted about her departure. “It’s been an incredible ride for 14 years and I want thank all of you for your support, for your love and for ‘whooping it up’ with me along the way.”
“I’ve been working on new projects that will be exciting, empowering and inspirational,” she continued. “My podcast with Westwood One will be launching soon and I will have much more to say about this on ‘Whoop it up with Vicki’. I hope you will join me with my new journey so please stay tuned. I love all my fans, and I want to thank Bravo and Evolution for this incredible experience which my family and I have will never forget.”
The news should not be all that big of a shock to fans, however. After all, Bethenny Frankel has left The Real Housewives of New York City, and Lisa Vanderpump infamously quit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last year. Plus, Nene Leakes is currently debating leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta so it would be safe to say that we are entering an all-new era entirely.
While Bravo and Evolution, the production company behind both RHOC and RHOBH, seem to be perfectly fine with some of their most notable stars leaving the network, it is not yet clear what these big departures mean for their respective shows.
The Real Housewives of Orange County — minus both Vicki and Tamra — will return later this year.
