‘Southern Charm’ Star Kathryn Dennis Denies She Sent Those Racist Messages On Purpose
Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis is denying that she sent those racist messages on purpose, according to new reports.
Page Six captured images from Kathryn’s Instagram Story and it appears that on Sunday, May 17, the Bravo reality star took to her social media to disagree with what has been reported about her.
“I use that emoji all the time because it looks silly and awkward and that’s my baseline,” she wrote, referencing the monkey emoji she sent to a black radio host just a few weeks ago which then surfaced on social media.
“The account was anonymous. I didn’t even know who I was messaging???? And now I’ve been labeled all this crazy stuff and it’s just not true. And it’s not fair,” she said.
On May 11, screenshots surfaced on social media which showed Kathryn engaging in a conversation with radio host Tamika Gadsen where she used a monkey emoji, among other tactics, to bully the radio host.
According to Us Weekly, the drama started after Gadsen called out a local beauty salon owner for holding a rally in support of President Donald Trump. The salon owner turned out to be a friend of the reality star’s, and the Southern Charm star went off on the radio host.

“This is what happens when a Black woman in #Charleston speaks up against white supremacy in the form of MAGA rallies,” the host tweeted on Monday, attached with pictures of her communications with Kathryn.
“My comments re: Mylk Bar prompted this @BravoTV ‘actor’ @KathrynDennis to taunt me with monkey emojis in my DMs. Along with a whole host of other names.”
At the time, Kathryn agreed that the messages were inappropriate and posted a Twitter apology, which she seems to now be taking back.
“I want to acknowledge that using a monkey emoji in my text was offensive, and from the bottom of my heart I sincerely apologize to anyone and everyone I hurt,” she posted. “Although the context was not my intention, there are no ‘if ands or buts’ that excuse me.”
“I did not give it thought, and it was and is wrong,” she continued. “I know I am not that person. I know and will do better.”
The craziness happening behind-the-scenes isn’t the only drama plaguing the Bravo hit.
As previously reported, production on Southern Charm season 7 has hit snag after snag as producers search for new cast members to join the show, which has struggled ever since the network fired Thomas Ravenel amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Just last week, things seemed to ramp up when Cameran Eubanks announced she was leaving the show after 6 seasons. Then, news broke that her friends and co-stars Naomie Olindo and Chelsea Meissner were also leaving. Naomie even implied that part of the reason for their departures was Kathryn’s habit of getting herself into trouble.

According to the Page Six piece, Kathryn is promising to release an official statement later today, so it looks like this story is far from over.
Southern Charm is expected to return later this year.
