RHONY Season 13 is apparently a “mess” behind the scenes, according to a scathing new report about the Bravo reality show.
All week, rumours have been floating about the next season of The Real Housewives of New York City after it leaked that O.G. cast member Ramona Singer was reportedly on the chopping block amid her dramatic feud with new Housewife Eboni K. Williams.
Things move fast in the Real Housewives universe, so we thought we’d compile all of the rumours in one place and take a look at what might be in store for RHONY Season 14.
RHONY Season 13 cast
Last year, news broke that Eboni K. Williams would be joining RHONY Season 13 as the show’s first Black cast member and she has certainly made her mark on the longtime series, with fans seemingly divided over whether or not they like her addition to the show.
Eboni joined Leah McSweeney, Sonja Morgan, Luann de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer as full-time Housewives, while Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley departed the series after Season 12.
Eboni vs. Ramona
Eboni and Ramona have gone at it this season over the former’s decision to make race and politics a topic of conversation amongst the women, who usually stick to lighter topics for their drama. While many fans have supported Eboni’s efforts to bring a little change to the franchise, some are not happy with her addition to the show and it seems to have come to a head earlier this week.
Ramona Singer fired?
Earlier this week, news broke that Ramona may have been let go from the show, with a source telling Radar Online that it had thrown production into chaos and that the Season 13 reunion would be delayed.
Then, conflicting reports came out that suggested Ramona will be back for Season 14 but that production is planning on making some more changes to the series after overwhelming fan feedback.
“Ramona Singer ain’t going anywhere,” a network insider revealed to the Daily Mail. “This story is complete rubbish.”
Eboni reportedly demands Ramona be demoted
Amid all of the chaos, news broke that Eboni has reportedly “demanded” that Ramona be at least demoted ahead of Season 14, if not let go from the franchise entirely.
“One Housewife in particular has it out for Ramona and she wants her off the show,” reports the Daily Mail. “This Housewife is leaking to news organizations that Ramona is fired in an attempt to push the network to get rid of her.”
“Over the coming weeks until the reunion is filmed there will be ‘anti-Ramona’ stories leaked everywhere as this Housewife attempts to push her off the show,” continues the insider. “The only problem is, Housewives fans who have stuck with the show this season, know what the problem is, and this year it isn’t Ramona Singer.”
RHONY production apparently a “mess” behind the scenes
Just yesterday (July 16), a production insider revealed to Page Six that RHONY Season 13 is apparently a “mess” behind the scenes, with all of the rumours causing additional headaches.
“They have a mess on their hands,” a source “close to production” dished to the outlet. “At the time they were casting this, they thought it would be a good idea to bring on a black woman to school these women on race.”
According to Page Six, however, the plan to exploit racial and political tensions has backfired, leaving the production in turmoil. “By the time it aired, our country was in a different place and the producers f–ked themselves.”
“There’s frustration behind the scenes,” continued the insider. “Production is amping her up and telling her to address this, push Ramona on that. Don’t blame any of the girls: Blame the production and the casting choice.”
The report goes on to say that despite Eboni impressing a big portion of the fanbase and network executives alike, she still may not be the right fit for RHONY—and the same goes for Leah McSweeney.
“[Leah’s] like an angsty ’90s teenager: bratty and obnoxious,” continued the source. “They could fix this easily by bringing back the core women.”
So, here’s where we stand…
- Ramona Singer may or may not return for Season 14
- Eboni K. Williams and Leah McSweeney are both on the chopping block
- The Season 13 reunion has been delayed until things calm down
While it’s not exactly clear what will happen with RHONY next season, it looks like fans are in store for even more changes. We’ll keep you updated on this developing story.
