‘Real Housewives Of Melbourne’ Season 5: Lydia Schiavello Confirms Return As Jackie Gillies Exits

Foxtel has been quietly working on The Real Housewives of Melbourne season 5 and according to a new Instagram post from returning cast member Lydia Schiavello, we’re getting a sneak peek at what she calls the “best season” yet.

Housewives fans have been shaking since Arena announced a new season of RHOMelbourne set to premiere sometime in 2020 and with the recent cast announcements, it looks like fans don’t have much longer to wait.

Lydia confirms her return

Confirming that production is starting very soon on the new season, Lydia revealed that the cast is set and that is certainly why some of the cast members are no longer playing coy with fans about their participation.

“A mix of originals and new ladies will be amazing,” she shared on Instagram. “The reality of our lives brings diversity, drama, laughter, tears, humour, [sic] powerful women and great TV.”

Lydia Schiavello confirmed her return to The Real Housewives of Melbourne season 5 on Instagram.

Not only has Sally Bloomfield confirmed that she won’t be returning for season 5, but Venus Behbahani-Clark and now Jackie Gillies have also confirmed their departures, leaving just original cast members Janet Roach, Gina Liano, and Lydia.

Sally Bloomfield recently announced she would not be appearing on The Real Housewives of Melbourne season 5.

Jackie announces her exit

While Lydia seems excited about the new season, not everyone is in celebration mode. After appearing for four seasons, original Housewife Jackie announced her exit (also on Instagram) and opened up to Stellar Magazine, telling the outlet that she is leaving to start a family.

“I am a person that is really authentic and walks my talk. But I wasn’t walking my talk,” she said in a new interview, confirming her departure from RHOMelbourne. “I didn’t tell anybody I was doing IVF for the first two rounds because I was a bit ashamed. I felt I wasn’t good enough and people would judge me. But keeping it hidden meant I also wasn’t being honest to who I am. And since I’ve started telling people, everyone has been so supportive.”

According to the magazine, Jackie is reportedly “disappointed” about her exit but confirmed that she is moving to Newcastle with her husband Ben.

Season 5 begins production

With the cast set in stone, production on season 5 is clearly about to start within the next few weeks. With the fact that both Janet and Lydia have confirmed their return, Gina is the lone holdout but it already sounds like fans are getting the season they have always wanted after a multi-year hiatus.

In addition to letting go of half of the cast, Matchbox Pictures has reportedly enticed new women to join the show that are set to add to the luxury lifestyle viewing that fans are accustomed to.

The Real Housewives of Melbourne season 5 premieres sometime in 2020.
