Phaedra Parks May Return To ‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ As A Friend Of Nene Leakes — Report

It may have been years since Phaedra Parks was last seen on Bravo but if Nene Leakes has her way, that won’t be the case for long.According to a new report from Love B Scott, Nene is campaigning for Phaedra to return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta as a Friend Of.

“While earlier reports claim Phaedra could return as a full-time housewife, our sources say that as of now she’s being considered to return in a ‘friend’ role,” an insider told the site, adding that Nene is on board with the plan.

Staying or Leaving?

For months, Nene has been teasing that she is unhappy with her current role on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Just this past weekend, she dished in a new interview to promote the RHOA reunion that she feels she needs to have a conversation with both the network and the production company behind the show, Truly Original, before feeling comfortable moving forward with another season.

“I got back and forth with it every day. I feel like it’s a big conversation I need to have with the network and with production. Because if they value their talent in some sort of way, then we need to talk,” she explained, when asked if she is likely to return to RHOA. “We need to come up with some sort of compromise here.”

She continued, “This time, being quarantined [amid the coronavirus pandemic] has really made me appreciate a lot of things about my life anyway.”

“I keep saying to people, ‘I want my life back,” she said. “I can’t have these girls fighting with me on TV for no reason anymore. I’ve got to move forward. And if that’s all you want from me, I have to move on and I got to go. Me and my wig got to leave, honey.”

Reunion Drama

Nene could certainly use an ally on the show if part 2 of the RHOA reunion was any indication. While we love Nene as an original Housewife, she seems to be struggling in the current climate and Kenya Moore handled her during the taping with ease.

As the gossip site points out, though, bringing back Phaedra could help Nene out with more than just Kenya.

As fans of the show are aware, Phaedra was fired after it was revealed that she was behind the rumours that ended Kandi Burruss‘ friendship with Porsha Williams.

A few seasons ago, Porsha accused Kandi of wanting to basically date-rape her and it was revealed at the subsequent reunion that Phaedra was behind the entire situation, shocking the women on the couch, reunion host and executive producer Andy Cohen, and basically every single Real Housewives fan watching at home. It was a doozy, to say the least, so rehiring Phaedra would be a big move for the network.

Now that Nene and Kandi are feuding, having Phaedra in her corner could be just the thing that Nene needs.

While we loved Phaedra on the show and she brought us some great moments, however, we just don’t think it makes sense to be re-cycling Housewives at this point. There are plenty of fabulous and fresh women in Atlanta that would keep the Housewives on their toes and we’d like to see Bravo go down that road, instead.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays on Bravo.
