- The Real Housewives of Naples has been announced by Italian network Real Time
- Show is set to premiere on streaming service Dplay later this year
The Real Housewives franchise is set to expand with yet another international version, this time set in Italy, as The Real Housewives Of Naples has been announced and will be premiering in 2020. The show will air on Italian network Real Time and a preview is set to be shown on streaming service Dplay.
While Bravo recently announced The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City would also be hitting television screens next year, this announcement in particular continues the streak of new Housewives cities to be launched internationally. Some think that the franchise has jumped the shark but versions have launched in Thailand, Hungary, and South Africa in very recent years, proving that the franchise does continue to have legs.
Taking a look at The Real Housewives di Napoli as it is referred to in Italy, things become clear as to why the international formats seem to gather so much positive attention from lifestyle viewers. If you take a look at The Real Housewives Of Cheshire as well as The Real Housewives Of Johannesburg, both produced by new production companies to the franchise, all of the shows have some very clear things in common:
A Truly Wealthy Lifestyle
When RHOCheshire launched a few years ago, it was originally focused around a set of football wives. While some of the original Housewives have since left, new seasons of the show have drifted back to this area with the additions of socialite football wives being added in guest roles and RHOJ isn’t any different. The women on these casts also have real money and don’t seem to suffer from the same financial shortfalls that our American ladies run into.
According to RealTime, the Naples ladies are going to continue to bring the lifestyle viewing:
“Real Housewives of Naples reveals one of the many faces of Naples, a city of a thousand souls and a thousand stories, from Gomorrah to the Boss of ceremonies,” reads a rough translation of the description of the new show. “Our six Neapolitans, brazenly chic housewives, ultra-veracious women, live between Posillipo and Chiaia, and frequent the same circles and the same elite women’s circle. Parties, parties, meetings.”
All-Star Production Value
While there doesn’t seem to be an actual trailer for the show, the production value behind the promotional image seems all-star. The background isn’t the greatest but the women are certainly bringing it with their fashion. If you’re a new Housewife in 2020, you know that previous Housewives have set the standard for your style and anyone operating at a level less than Erika Jayne seems to be tossed to the side by fans.
Real Housewives Of Naples, Real Juicy Storylines
Like we mentioned, the international-set shows are known for really amping up the drama when it comes to the cast. These shows are always the most successful when the cast knows each other, has a dramatic or juicy past, and can really dish the dirt. Plus, they have the pressure of usually being first to market in their country and no one wants to suffer the same fate as the Canadian editions. Rest in peace, RHOV and RHOT.
While not much is known about plotlines on the show, these women certainly have some interesting pasts. The Italian tabloid media have been all over the show and if there’s any truth to some of what’s been brought up, it means that we’re in for some pretty amazing popcorn entertainment.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly named Alessandra Rubinacci as a member of The Real Housewives Of Naples. We have since updated this article to accurately reflect all six women.
