MTV Rebooting ‘The Real World’ With Original ‘New York’ Cast — Reports

And it's all set to take place in the series' original loft.

UPDATE: According to a new report, The Real World reboot will be called The Real World Homecoming: New York and debuts March 4th on streaming service Paramount+.

ORIGINAL STORY: MTV is rebooting The Real World franchise with the original New York cast, according to new reports.

Insiders tell Page Six exclusively that the cast recently wrapped filming a rebooted version of the show in the original loft they shared together back in 1992.

According to the gossip outlet, Becky Blasband, Andre Comeau, Heather B. Gardner, Julie Gentry, Norman Korpi, Eric Nies and Kevin Powell shared the same SoHo loft for the original season which filmed from February 16, 1992 to May 18, 1992 before premiering on May 21 of that same year and are set to be featured on the new season. The outlet also reports that the loft was once owned by the granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill and is currently under contract for $5.5 million USD.

MTV is reportedly planning on rebooting The Real World with the original New York cast from 1992. The franchise’s only current iteration is spinoff The Challenge.

While MTV has yet to comment on The Real World rumours, they have reportedly been teasing fans on Twitter, meaning the season could be dropping in the next few months.

As fans of the reality franchise know, the Real World format places seven strangers in a house and documents their lives together over around three months. The series has confronted many societal issues over the years but had fallen to the wayside when other reality formats, like The Real Housewives, gained in popularity. MTV rebooted the series for Facebook Watch just a few years ago but it hasn’t returned for another season in that capacity.

The Real World: New York is expected to drop on MTV later this year.
