Love & Hip Hop Atlanta continues to deliver record ratings with its currently-airing 6th season, new reports indicate.
LHHATL’s second episode scored more than 3 million total viewers for episode 2, which is massive by reality TV means. “The Viacom-owned VH1 drew more than 3 million viewers and a 2.35 Live+same day demo rating for the second episode of Season 6 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and its lead-out Hip Hop Squares drew a combined 1.49 L+SD demo rating for its two-episode premiere,” reads a report from Deadline.
For comparison, The Real Housewives of Atlanta is Bravo’s biggest hit and only brings in around 3 million on its best day. Other shows like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of New York City deliver under 2 million total viewers regularly, and even E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians can’t pull in the type of numbers that LHHATL does.
The season 6 premiere delivered 5.2 million total viewers including encore episodes and helped VH1 grab the number one spot for cable channels among the highly coveted adults 18-49 and 18-34 groups, the site previously reported. Those ratings made it the highest-rated premiere since season 4.
There’s a few reasons as to why Love & Hip Hop Atlanta does so well for VH1 and one of them is simply that the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is ratchet, petty drama at its best and coupled with the adjustments they’ve been making to the production style of the show, it’s a match made in heaven.
Because the show continues to bring on new cast members and isn’t just one person’s show means that it has the potential to remain a ratings juggernaut for years. Fingers crossed!
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta airs Mondays on VH1.
