Lisa joked that Bravo couldn’t afford to throw a premiere party for Vanderpump Rules season 8.
Vanderpump Rules season 8 premiered on Bravo last night and it appears that there is just as much drama off-screen as there is on-screen.
A premiere party was held last night, January 7, at Hyde in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of season 8 and in a video leaked to TMZ, Lisa Vanderpump uses the event as an opportunity to shade the network — and it’s pretty funny.
In the clip, Lala Kent’s boyfriend Randall Emmett gives an impassioned speech about the success of the show before passing the mic to LVP. While it is kind of difficult to hear, she thanks Randall “for doing what Bravo could have done but didn’t,” referencing the premiere party itself.
More Vanderpump Rules
The network has since responded to the shade and made it clear that there is no issue with LVP by way of an insider source. According to TMZ, Bravo “rarely” throws premiere parties and passed the blame to the production company, Evolution.
Even though Lisa was just making a joke, the insider also pointed out that Bravo has paid for premiere parties in the past, and Lisa herself has attended numerous parties for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills that have been sponsored by the network. While this is some light shade, LVP might have a point.
This has been quite the week for LVP. In addition to the premiere of Vanderpump Rules, her restaurant Pump is currently undergoing renovation after a car drove into it during a busy brunch period. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in that incident.
