Lisa Vanderpump Closes Villa Blanca Restaurant Amid Coronavirus Pandemic: “The Restaurant Hasn’t Been Doing Well For A While Now”

Lisa Vanderpump has decided to close her famed restaurant Villa Blanca, according to new reports, and despite the closure happening during the coronavirus pandemic, it may have been the restaurant’s destiny regardless.

Hollywood Life reports that LVP decided to close Villa Blanca for a few reasons, including the sky-high rent on the corner location in Beverly Hills. The restaurant had been featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules many times over the last decade.

“Lisa and Ken loved Villa Blanca and were quite attached to it so it was really hard to close for them and it wasn’t an easy decision to make,” an insider close to the reality star revealed. “It was her baby essentially and she frequented there almost daily.”

The restaurant reportedly had temporarily closed during the pandemic but the situation was ever-evolving, which makes sense during this climate. “They held onto it so long because they didn’t want to see it close,” added the source.

“The restaurant hasn’t been doing well for awhile now and their other establishments were doing much better,” the insider continued. “It’s always been more of a lunch and happy hour spot and never really was packed. The rent for that corner in Beverly Hills is insanely expensive, too.”

As the outlet points out, Lisa and her husband Ken Todd still own and operate Pump, Sur, and TomTom.

“She’s hoping to open up TomTom in August,” the same source said about the West Hollywood-based restaurant seen on Vanderpump Rules. (Lisa and her husband own the restaurant in part with co-stars Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz.)

In addition to Lisa closing her restaurant, she’s also had to deal with some controversy on her reality show.

As previously reported, Bravo fired four cast members from the show for past racist behaviour and LVP released numerous statements condemning the behaviour. The show is expected to return for a new season in 2021.
