Leah McSweeney may have foot-in-mouth syndrome after apparently confirming that Dorinda Medley was in fact fired from RHONY, despite Dorinda’s announcement that she was leaving the show on her own terms.

In a recent appearance on The Jenny McCarthy Show on SiriusXM, Leah opened up for the first time about what Dorinda’s exit means for The Real Housewives of New York City, which will be heading into its blockbuster thirteenth season.

“I was definitely shocked, but at the same time I feel like anything goes,” she said, according to Page Six. “Nothing should shock you because at the end of the day everyone is just as good as their last season.”

Dorinda Medley previously announced she was leaving RHONY on her own terms, but co-star Leah McSweeney revealed in a new interview that she was actually fired.

She added, “You never know if you’re on the chopping block or not.”

This season, Dorinda seemed to clash with pretty much every single one of her co-stars and Leah seemed to agree that may have something to do with her departure.

“Obviously, she had a difficult season, so I guess it’s not that shocking,” she dished, “but at the same time, it is because she’s beloved and she’s great on TV. She’s great TV, but unfortunately for whatever reason, she’s not going to be on this season.”

When asked whether she had spoken to her now-former co-star since news broke she wasn’t returning to RHONY, Leah confirmed that she had and also seemed to imply that she was in fact let go.

“She seemed great. She seemed OK,” she explained of their conversation. “She was just being very honest about the whole thing like, ‘Look I’m not thrilled about it, but I’m also relieved in some ways. She’s going to be fine.”

Dorinda joined RHONY back in Season 7, the same season that saw Bethenny Frankel return to the show after a two-season break and is known for bringing some pretty big moments to the Bravo show.

While her departure means the show will definitely look different next year, after a lacklustre finale it is clear that something needed to give and hopefully, this allows the show the refresh it needs.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursdays on Bravo and Slice.
