Kate Chastain Reveals What She Regrets About Her Final Season On ‘Below Deck’

Spoiler alert: not much.

Spoiler alert: not much.

Kate Chastain appeared on Watch What Happens Live last night (December 14) and opened up about what she regrets about her final season on Below Deck after leaving the show earlier this year.

In a series of questions for a game called “Do You Regret It?”, Kate revealed what she would change about her time on the show and, spoiler alert, it wasn’t much.

As Below Deck viewers are well aware, Kate somewhat lost it last season after getting into it with multiple crew members and ended up leaving the boat in the middle of the night. The season ended up being one of the show’s most dramatic to date, but only Captain Lee Rosbach returned for the currently-airing Season 8.

When asked if she would change her behaviour from that night, Kate answered promptly. “I think some of the crew were very aware and no I don’t regret it,” she told Andy. “I spent a lovely night in a hotel room.”

Kate was also asked about whether she regrets not telling Captain Lee about bosun Ashton Pienaar’s “aggressive” behaviour, clarifying that yes, she does wish she handled things with Ashton differently. “Yes I do because then he would have been fired,” she said, as only Kate can.

While it is clear that Kate is joking, it would have been nice to hear some actual reflections in her behaviour because things were pretty crazy last season and the rest of the cast seemed to have moved past any drama.

As previously reported, Kate announced her exit from Below Deck earlier this year.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land-based role,” she captioned a photo on Instagram, revealing her decision to exit the series. “I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen.”

Quickly after leaving the series, however, she returned for a web series on BravoTV.com and hosted a few Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Sailing specials before landing a full-time gig as host on Bravo’s Chat Room.

The series has continued to see ratings success in her absence.

Below Deck airs Mondays on Bravo.
