Jax Taylor And Brittany Cartwright Face Backlash From ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Viewers For Poor Handling Of Their Pastor’s Anti-Gay Comments

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are facing backlash from Vanderpump Rules viewers for what they’re calling a poor handling of their would-be pastor’s anti-gay comments.

On a February 19 episode of the Bravo show, Lisa Vanderpump was alarmed when she realized that the pastor at the two’s upcoming wedding — which was filmed for the show — had made anti-gay comments in the past.

“I woke up this morning, okay, and plastered all over social media, the guy that is marrying Jax and Brittany has made these incredibly offensive remarks about the LGBTQ community,” she said on the episode, as reported by Page Six. “I mean, saying awful things, talking about the sin of same-sex marriage, all kinds of homophobic things.”

After LVP confronted Jax and Brittany, they removed the pastor from the wedding.

Then, on a February 25 episode of the show, the two were confronted by Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix after it was revealed to viewers that Jax and Brittany had actually known about the issue for months.

Instead of apologizing for their part in the issue, Jax and Brittany flipped out, removed Tom from their wedding party, and Jax even made some questionable comments about Ariana’s sexuality.

Now, the two are facing backlash from viewers for how they’ve handled the situation. A quick look at the show’s hashtag and their social media will show that not all fans are pleased with their comments.

“Calling out homophobia is going too far?” tweeted @mal_is_your_pal.

“Brittany & Jax a 100% had no intention of firing their pastor until they got publicly called out,” posted @Luna_D_. “And then they act all offended when they get questioned.”

Jax, for his part, has posted on social media that the two are currently in Michigan, so it’s possible they’ve left Los Angeles to avoid any negative attention during these episodes. Oh, and he also retweeted a post from the “It Gets Better” movement.

While some viewers have gone as far as to question why they are still on the Bravo show, both the network and LVP have so far remained mum about the issue.
