Jax Taylor And Brittany Cartwright Are Leaving ‘Vanderpump Rules’ — Were They Fired By Bravo?

Fans don't believe the two exited on their own.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are officially leaving Vanderpump Rules ahead of Season 9 and some fans are now asking if they were actually fired by Bravo.

Jax and Brittany took to Instagram to share official statements about their exits, thanking both the production company and network for their time on the show. Interestingly enough, the two did not thank Lisa Vanderpump, the show’s namesake, for helping to give them the platform in the first place.

“The last 5 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding and fulfilling years of my life,” posted Brittany. “Although this is difficult to share, Jax and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors [sic]. @bravotv, @evolutionusa and our Vanderpump castmates will always remain close to our hearts. Thank you to all the fans who have shared our journey with us and supported us through everything. We love you.”

Jax shared a very similarly-worded statement to his official Instagram, also leaving out LVP.

The timing of their statements, how they’ve been worded, and the fact that they excluded LVP lead us to believe that Bravo actually fired both Jax and Brittany as opposed to them exiting the series on their own. Allowing them to exit the series gracefully is something that the network has done repeatedly for their talent over the years.

Downplaying the coronavirus

As previously reported, the show will look quite different if, and when, it returns to Bravo.

Back in July 2020, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens were all fired from Vanderpump Rules over what the network called past racist behaviour. At the time, many fans were also calling for Jax to be fired after years of bad behaviour including homophobia, theft, arguing with fans on social media, and more recently, downplaying the coronavirus pandemic.

Back in March 2020, Jax took to Instagram and Twitter to share his thoughts on the coronavirus pandemic and to say it didn’t go over well would be an understatement. According to a report from Us WeeklyJax said that he thinks the coronavirus is a “punishment” from God.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have allegedly been fired from Vanderpump Rules.

“I know a lot of people are out of work and are having a rough time and that sucks and I am so sorry, but I feel like this is a punishment from the man upstairs,” he wrote in a post on his social media platforms, according to the gossip outlet. “I really think he’s tired of the way we treat people, he’s tired of how we treat the planet, probably thinks some of us are ungrateful, I mean I could go on and on.. but this is like a serious ‘time out’ for the world.”

“When we come out of this we need to change for the better. All of us need a wake up call, we need to change our ways because obviously it wasn’t working and we needed a punishment and this is it,” he said. “The true test will be how we come out of this, and when we do, remember what it was like when our freedom was taken from us.”

He continued, “Let’s show the man upstairs that we can do better for ourselves and humanity. He’s done so much for us, it’s time to pay him back.”

Vanderpump Rules Season 9?

The news that Bravo has allegedly fired Jax and Brittany only means that we are getting closer to Vanderpump Rules Season 9.

As fans are aware, LVP’s restaurants, including SUR, have been closed for the past few months due to COVID-19 but with this news, and the fact that SUR has since reopened, it’s possible that the network is gearing up to begin production on the new season.

Back in September 2020, fired cast member Kristen Doute revealed that Bravo had not yet ordered a new season of the show, despite a lot of the cast members moving forward in their personal lives and announcing pregnancies. At the time, Kristen revealed she was hoping that she would be able to work on a new project with her former friends; possibly a Vanderpump Babies spinoff that we’ve been hearing about?

In an interview with Hollywood Life to promote her new book, Kristen was asked about what she wants to do next now that she’s been let go from the reality show. “I was acting before Vanderpump Rules happened,” she explained. “I’m so grateful that Vanderpump Rules happened.”

“I hope that they get a next season, but in my heart of hearts I [also] don’t so that we can all do something together, but yes, if it’s not that… I don’t know what genre, I don’t know what platform at this point, but I loved what we did for almost a decade and I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
