Insight Productions Announce Steps They’ve Taken To Protect ‘Big Brother Canada’ Houseguests Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Insight Productions, the production company behind Big Brother Canada, has released a statement on the steps they’ve taken to protect the Houseguests amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a report from Global News, it sounds like the house may be one of the safest places in Canada at the moment.
“Insight is taking every precaution to keep our crew and house guests safe on Big Brother Canada while delivering programming to audiences across the country when they need it most,” the production company said in a statement.
“The safety of the crew and house guests is paramount to Insight and as such we are taking every precaution to ensure a healthy set and workplace. Many additional practices have been implemented including, but not limited to, placing sanitizers at every entrance; daily professional cleaning and disinfection of all edit suites, control rooms, studio spaces, and offices; elimination of the live audience; adjusting the creative so that more staff can work from home, etc.”
“Insight and Corus continue to aggressively monitor the production and are constantly evaluating our practices and adjusting if necessary,” continues the statement. “The onsite crew members are checked for symptoms prior to entry on a daily basis.
“We are continuing to keep our staff and house guests updated on a regular basis as the situation evolves.”
As previously reported, production informed the Houseguests about the outbreak last week and all of the contestants have chosen to stay inside of the house and continue to play the game.
Big Week In The BBCAN House
Aside from dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, it was a big week in the BBCAN house gameplay-wise.
First, news broke that contestant Jamar Lee had been removed from the house after a “tense” house meeting. At the time, both the production company and Lee released statements about the incident.
“Insight Productions has made the difficult decision to remove a houseguest as a result of behaviour which occurred that was a breach of the Big Brother house rules,” read a statement from Insight Productions.
“We at Global and Insight Productions take the rules of this competition seriously and with respect to all houseguests past and present, the confines of the Big Brother house can be trying, sometimes leading to a clash of opinions and emotions in an isolated environment,” continued the statement. “We handle these situations with care and caution, protecting the well-being of our houseguests and ensuring the integrity of this long-standing production.”

Lee himself spoke out about his removal, thanking the show for the opportunity in the first place.
“I take full responsibility for my actions – I lost my cool and that’s not OK. I’ve always stood behind what I believe in and I’m sorry if I let people down,” he said. “I want to thank everyone for their love and support, it really means a lot… this isn’t the last of me! You feel me?”
Lee’s removal set off a firestorm on social media, with fans trending #IStandWithJamar and starting a GoFundMe in support. At last count by Global News, the fundraiser had generated over $4,000.
Jamar Speaks Out
After being removed from the house, Jamar took to Twitter to thank his supporters and to share that he has “no bitterness” towards the show for being removed.
“S/O to @BigBrotherCA for having me on the show!” he posted. “Sucks I had to be removed off this season but nonetheless had a great time and a surreal experience! No bitterness over here!!”
