Hannah Ferrier Breaks Down What It Was Like To Be Fired On ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’

She has appeared on the Bravo reality hit for 5 seasons.

Hannah Ferrier is breaking down what it was like to be fired on Below Deck Mediterranean following last night’s intense episode.

As fans of the franchise are well aware, the show has been teasing Hannah’s exit for weeks and on last night’s episode, things finally played out after months of rumours.

Hannah opened up to Decider and revealed what it was like to watch it all back a few months later. “I’m actually just really disturbed. I think especially seeing how it played out. Obviously when I’m in the moment, it’s very confronting. It’s very shocking,” she told the entertainment outlet.

“I think especially just saying things like, ‘Is she flushing the drugs?’ You can see on my face when she opens that bathroom door. My pants are undone. I’m going to the bathroom,” she explained. “I’m like, why would I flush my medication? But it wouldn’t have crossed my mind to flush Valium, because I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong. It’s anti-anxiety medication. It’s like, it’s five milligrams of Valium! It was just disappointing.”

“I feel like I’m being painted as some sort of drug addict or what have you.”

In recent weeks, current and past stars from Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean have spoken out on the issue driving a major wedge between Hannah and returning cast member Malia White.

While Malia and Captain Sandy Yawn think that Hannah having prescription drugs on board the yacht broke maritime law, Hannah points out that this take is simply dangerous and out-of-date.

“I think it’s been more disappointing seeing the reaction now because we’ve had some time,” she said, referencing Malia. “Maybe people could step back and go, ‘Okay, I was a little harsh.’ To see Malia on Watch What Happens Live, and using the word ‘narcotic.’ It’s not narcotics. It’s anti-anxiety medication.”

“I think I’ve just been really disappointed because I feel I’m being painted as some sort of drug addict or what have you,” she continued. “Which is just so sad, because there are so many people in the world that suffer from mental illness. And it’s 2020. We shouldn’t be making people feel like a lesser for taking medication for mental illness. Or making them feel like they can’t do a job, or they can’t do what normal people can do.”

Hannah is currently expecting her first child with her boyfriend Josh and reveals that he is extremely upset after both hearing what happened in real-time and then having to re-live it, as well.

Hannah Ferrier talks being fired

“He was just really upset,” she said. “What Sandy did when she came and found me on the dock was the nail in the coffin. I’ve done this for five seasons. You’re not doing this because you care. You’re not doing this to be nice. You’re not trying to check up on me. You’re doing it for your own benefit.”

“Just leave me be. Let me work my shit out,” she explained of their explosive confrontation. “I’m not saying ‘I’m not going,’ I’m just literally having a phone conversation and having a cigarette, and then I’m going to go pack my bags. But don’t come out and keep poking. I literally just said, ‘This is bullshit.’ And she just exploded. It’s like, okay. Because it’s not like I was screaming at you, I was just trying to get away.”

When asked if she has spoken to Captain Sandy since being fired, Hannah responded with a flat “No.”

Bugsy reaches out

The reaction to the drama has been strong and swift and Hannah reveals that Christine “Bugsy” Drake reached out to her just this week amid all of the chaos.

When asked if she had reached out prior, Hannah Ferrier’s answer was disappointing: “Um, no. Not until this week.” She mentioned that many other Below Deck stars have reached out to her about the issue, however.

“[Bugsy] was having a hard time with the social media hatred,” she said of their conversation. “Bugs and me won’t ever be best friends, but I do believe that she was lumped into a situation. I put a tweet out that I don’t think she had anything to do with this or that. And I said to Bugs, ‘Look, I’m so sorry but I actually think you’re collateral damage. I don’t think that you deserve this kind of hatred.’ So yeah, that was the first time we’ve chatted since our season finished.”

It is surprising to hear that Bugsy only reached out to Hannah this week but hopefully, now that the episodes have aired, she’s able to self-reflect and it sounds like their conversation ended on a good note.

It is disappointing, however, to find out that Malia and Captain Sandy haven’t reached out to Hannah because despite their differences, all of this will be discussed at the reunion taping, so it isn’t like they’re going to get away without facing Hannah.

As previously reported, Hannah Ferrier has more important things than the drama to worry about, thankfully: In addition to her new podcast and new company, she is busy planning for her family’s new addition.

This has been quite the season for Below Deck Mediterranean. In addition to Hannah being fired, Chef Kiko was also given the boot, and Peter Hunziker was fired by the network after posting a racist meme to social media.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays on Bravo and Slice.
