Former RHONY friend Barbara Kavovit has announced she is running for Mayor of New York City.
“I’m running for Mayor of New York City because the city that I love, the city of opportunity where I built my business and my dreams, is in a state of crisis,” she shared on her official Instagram page. “I may not be a politician, but I’m a Bronx-born New Yorker who isn’t fearful of the hard work and tough decisions that lay ahead. It will take a builder to rebuild #NYC, and I’m the woman to do it.”
Along with the Instagram announcement, Barbara launched her campaign’s official website, BarbaraKForMayor.com, which details some of her campaign promises, including “reforming” and “rebuilding” the New York Police Department, investing in education and affordable housing, and protecting LGBTQ+ rights.

As RHONY fans will remember, Barbara Kovavit was first introduced to viewers on Season 11 of the show as a friend of Luann de Lesseps.
By the end of the season, however, their friendship had fallen apart, and Barbara wasn’t asked back for Season 13, which is currently filming.
The Real Housewives of New York City will return to Bravo later this year.
