Snooki has reportedly quit Jersey Shore. Does the show have a future without her?
According to Page Six, Snooki took to the newest episode of her podcast It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey to announce that she no longer wants to film the show after having children.
“You guys, I love you so much and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment,” se said. “I am retiring from Jersey Shore. I am not coming back for Season 4 if there is one.”
MTV hasn’t officially renewed the show for a fourth season but it is expected to return as it remains one of the network’s most notable franchises, along with Teen Mom. The show is arguably a bitter hit then even The Hills: New Beginnings, which returned to the network to much fanfare earlier this year but hasn’t made a splash since.
Snooki also claims that the show has become too “serious” following recent drama with co-star Angelina Pivarnick. Recently, numerous outlets reported that Snooki caused quite the scene at Angelina’s wedding along with Jenni “Jwoww” Farley. The drama was captured for the show and while viewers haven’t yet seen the footage, they’re already judging Snooki and Jwoww pretty harshly.
It’s not surprising that Snooki would want to leave the show but at this point, there’s no indication that she’s actually serious. Reality stars are used to making grandiose statements like this and a lot of the times, it all has to do with contract negotiations for their respective show.
While Snooki remains a big part of Jersey Shore, her leaving will only impact the show if her co-stars decide to leave the MTV paycheck behind, too. Funnily enough, that doesn’t seem all that likely.
