Just a few months ago, Bethenny’s ex-husband Jason Hoppy was arrested for harassing the RHONY veteran and according to Radar Online, that’s why she’s still in front of Bravo cameras. Jason appeared in a New York City courtroom just yesterday, Monday, March 13th and turned down the plea deal prosecutors were offering him.
According to the report, prosecutors offered Jason the opportunity to lower his charges to a “violation,” but he balked. The agreement would have had him attending an anger management program and an order of protection for Bethenny would have been thrown into the mix. While no quotes have been provided, the Radar report states that Jason feels he will be “vindicated” throughout this process.
All of the drama has Bethenny — and Bravo — resuming production on RHONY season 8, despite the wrap party being held just a few weeks ago. “It’s been revealed that Frankel is continuing filming for this season of the Real Housewives of New York, which could potentially feature her reactions to Hoppy’s first court appearances over the charges,” reads the report.
If true, it makes sense that Bravo would want to capture this drama. The issue with filming months in advance is that a lot of things change in the meantime and for shows like these to remain relevant, they have to stay current. It looks like Bravo is doing the same thing they did with Vanderpump Rules this season and as a result, this may help with some of the other production issues they were reportedly experiencing.
The Real Housewives of New York City returns April 5th on Bravo and Slice.
