Bethenny Frankel has been known to be hit with the jealousy bug on The Real Housewives of New York City but this time, she’s taking things a step further by inciting a feud that crosses franchise lines. According to a new report, the RHONY star is “livid” with both Bravo and Nene Leakes for securing the latter a pretty big raise in order to return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for season 10.
Bethenny forged the way when it comes to Housewives comebacks but it has now been a few years since she returned to RHONY and ever since, many other Housewives have done the same thing. Last season, RHOA brought back Sheree Whitfield and a few years ago, The Real Housewives of New Jersey decided to bring back troublemaker Jacqueline Laurita (they’re doing it again with Danielle Staub’s return to season 8). In short, Bethenny is no longer unique in this sense and it has to be frustrating to her.
Radar Online reports that Bethenny has seen the news about Nene’s return to RHOA and that she isn’t at all pleased. “Bethenny saw reports about what Nene is getting and is livid,” a source close to her told Radar. “She wants to be the best paid housewife!”
According to their report, Nene is getting close to $2 million to return for season 10 and while Bethenny used to be one of the highest-paid cast members in the franchise, Nene’s salary is clearly higher. “The network gave her the most lucrative deal in network history,” a production insider revealed. “Along with a lucrative seven-figure salary, Nene has a most favored nations clause which allows her to have preferential treatment when it comes to scheduling filming events around her personal and business scheduled.”
“Filming started this week and Nene is expected to be a center storyline,” continued the source.
While we can understand why Bethenny would be upset with Nene’s deal, she needs to move on. Comparing RHONY and RHOA is like comparing apples to oranges and while they both bring a lot to their respective shows, Bethenny should simply be happy that she is the top dog on her own show. After all, it’s not just Nene she’s competing with; Both Kandi Burruss and Lisa Vanderpump have reportedly closed very lucrative deals with the network recently, too.
